Eye treatment during your stay in Türkiye: a step-by-step plan
If you live in Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France or anywhere else abroad and would like to combine an eye examination or surgery with your stay in Türkiye, we plan the whole process with you — from the preliminary assessment and surgery to follow-up visits and your journey home.
Consultations in Turkish and English
How does it work?
- 1
Preliminary assessment via WhatsApp
Send us your previous examination reports, your glasses prescription, the medication you take and any eye surgery you have had. We will discuss the options that may suit you and the process in advance. The final decision on whether a treatment is right for you is made at the detailed examination in Kayseri.
- 2
Choose the dates together
The summer months are busy. If you contact us a few weeks before you travel, it is easier to fit the examination and any surgery around your plans.
- 3
Detailed examination in Kayseri
All measurements of your eyes are taken and it becomes clear whether the treatment is suitable for you. As pupil-dilating drops may be used, we recommend not driving on the day of the examination and bringing sunglasses.
- 4
The day of surgery
Cataract, smart lens and laser procedures are day surgeries — you return to your accommodation the same day. Operations are performed at our contracted hospitals.
- 5
Follow-up and returning home
Once the post-operative check-ups are complete, you can travel home. Take your surgical report with you; further check-ups can be continued with your ophthalmologist in your country of residence.
How long should I stay in Türkiye?
For your safety, the first post-operative check-ups should take place in Türkiye. As a general guide:
| Treatment | Recommended stay |
|---|---|
| Examination / second opinion | 1 day (1–2 days if further tests are needed) |
| Cataract or smart lens – one eye | At least 1 week after surgery |
| Cataract or smart lens – both eyes | Usually 2–3 weeks in total |
| Laser (LASIK, Femto-LASIK, SMILE) | At least 1 week after surgery |
| Surface laser (PRK, No-Touch) | 7–10 days after surgery |
These durations are for general information only; your exact plan is made individually after the examination.
Before you come
- If you wear contact lenses: for accurate measurements, soft lenses must be removed at least 1 week and rigid (gas-permeable) lenses at least 3 weeks beforehand. We will confirm the exact period with you in advance.
- Bring your current glasses and any previous eye reports.
- Bring a list of all medication you take (especially blood thinners and prostate medication).
- Let us know in advance about conditions such as diabetes or glaucoma.
After surgery
- Flying: after uncomplicated cataract and laser procedures, flying is usually possible within a few days — still, plan your return flight after your final check-up.
- Swimming pools, the sea and Turkish baths: avoid them for at least 2–4 weeks because of the risk of infection.
- Do not rub your eyes, and keep using your eye drops as prescribed.
- In case of sudden loss of vision, increasing pain or redness — wherever you are — see an eye doctor without delay and let us know as well.
Costs and insurance
Costs depend on the treatment plan determined after your examination; please contact us for current information. We recommend checking with your insurer before you travel whether your health insurance abroad covers treatment in Türkiye.
Where is the clinic?

Can we talk online before I decide on surgery?
Yes. You can send your reports and glasses prescription via WhatsApp; an online consultation is possible for a preliminary assessment or a second opinion. The decision on whether surgery is suitable for you is always made at a detailed, in-person examination.
Which languages are consultations held in?
Examinations and consultations are held in Turkish and English.
Can I have the examination and surgery during the same trip?
In most cases, yes. With a preliminary assessment and dates planned in advance, the examination, surgery and first check-ups can be completed within one stay. If further tests are needed, it may take longer.
Who will do my check-ups when I am back home?
Once the check-ups in Türkiye are complete, you can continue follow-up with your ophthalmologist in your country of residence. Simply take your surgical report with you — and you can always send us your questions via WhatsApp.
